Staff Data Scientist

About our group:

We are a team of Seagate Drive Factory MES (Manufacturing Execution System) developers based in China.  Our team provides IT solutions to factory engineering teams including BigData and ML/AI related software architecture /design and application development. The applications and services are deployed in China, Thailand, Singapore and US.

About the role - you will:

•    Lead and deliver end-to-end AI projects in manufacturing: Identify business pain points, define technical roadmaps and milestones, and ensure stable operation and value realization from prototype to production deployment, including MLOps execution and continuous improvement. 
•    Design high-value manufacturing solutions: Develop solutions for scenarios such as predictive maintenance, process data analysis, image/video recognition, and collaborate closely with production, equipment, process and quality teams. 
•    Build and optimize data and model pipelines: Oversee data governance, feature engineering, model training and evaluation, deployment monitoring, and rollback strategies. 
•    Drive large-scale application of multi-agent AI/LLM in factories: Implement process automation, knowledge Q&A, and decision support, while ensuring safety, compliance, and cost optimization. 
•    Establish AI governance and learning mechanisms: Collaborate with Seagate AI teams to create replicable best practices and training systems. 
•    Quantify project value: Define and track OKRs/KPIs (e.g., capacity increase, yield improvement, rework reduction, response time reduction) and submit periodic reviews and ROI reports. 

About you:

•    Manufacturing Knowledge & Communication: Understanding of manufacturing data and process terminology, with strong cross-department collaboration, communication, and project management skills. 
•    English Proficiency: Strong English communication skills for technical documentation and clear reporting to management. 

Your experience includes:

•    AI/ML Project Experience: 5–8+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 end-to-end industrial/manufacturing project deployments from business requirements to production operations. 
•    Engineering Skills: Proficient in Python, deep learning frameworks, data processing, model serving, containerization/orchestration, CI/CD, and version control. 
•    MLOps & Observability: Familiar with model registry, feature store, A/B and shadow deployments, drift monitoring, quality alerts, and SLA governance. 
•    Specialized Expertise: One or more of the following—computer vision (defect detection, OCR/barcode), time-series analysis/SPC, LLM & multi-agent systems, edge inference, industrial protocols.

Located in the high technology district, our site in Wuxi is a global manufacturing hub, where nearly 4,000 employees deliver technical services, customer tests, manufacturing, and support capabilities.
