About our group:

Our GFIT Software Development team in Wuxi supports Seagate’s factory digital transformation by delivering MES-related applications, manufacturing software, data solutions, and automation capabilities for real production operations. We focus on applying AI, GenAI, analytics, computer vision, and workflow automation to improve factory efficiency, process visibility, troubleshooting, and smart manufacturing decision-making.  

As an intern, you will work with experienced engineers and factory stakeholders to learn real manufacturing processes, contribute to practical AI and automation projects, and help build scalable digital solutions that create measurable business impact. 

About the role - you will:

  • Support the development, testing, and maintenance of MES, factory applications, automation workflows, and internal digital tools that enable smart manufacturing operations. 
  • Assist with coding, debugging, unit testing, deployment support, and technical documentation for factory AI and automation-related solutions. 
  • Apply AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or similar technologies, to improve software delivery, testing quality, documentation efficiency, and problem-solving productivity. 
  • Contribute to practical AI, GenAI, data analytics, reporting, computer vision, or workflow automation use cases that improve manufacturing efficiency, visibility, and operational decision-making. 
  • Collaborate with engineers, business users, and factory stakeholders to understand operational pain points and deliver scalable, user-focused digital improvements. 

About you:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Systems, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree candidates are preferred. 
  • Strong interest in factory AI, GenAI, data analytics, automation, computer vision, MES, smart manufacturing, or industrial digital transformation. 
  • Basic programming experience in C#, .NET, Java, Python, JavaScript, or other common programming languages used for enterprise or factory application development. 
  • Basic understanding of software development, databases, SQL, debugging, testing, APIs, version control, or system integration is preferred. 
  • Good English communication skills, including the ability to read technical documents and communicate in basic written and spoken English. 
  • Good communication skills, a responsible attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn new technologies and apply them to real factory business problems.

Located in the high technology district, our site in Wuxi is a global manufacturing hub, where more than 5,000 employees deliver technical services, customer test, manufacturing and support capabilities.
