About the role - you will:

 

In this new role you will play a leadership role in the ongoing development of Seagate’s global trade compliance program working closely with Seagate’s Trade Compliance Counsel team to advise the business on complex trade compliance matters and to drive strategic enterprise-wide trade compliance initiatives to improve and mature Seagate’s trade compliance program.

 

This position is part of the Compliance and Ethics team within Seagate’s Legal Team.
 

  • Lead development and implementation of strategic trade compliance projects relating to key areas such as export controlled technologies  
  • Provide strategic guidance and advice on complex trade compliance contractual issues, including conducting negotiations with third parties
  • Provide strategic analysis of legal due diligence for transaction and business partner risk management
  • Be a strategic business partner to and collaborate closely with the leadership of Seagate’s International Trade Administration team on all aspects of Seagate’s trade compliance program
  • Provide strategic direction and support to Seagate’s trade compliance training program
  • Participate in the work of internal regulatory and compliance committees
  • Provide strategic direction and support to the implementation of policies, processes and standard operating procedures relating to trade compliance
  • Lead the approach to performing trade compliance risk assessments
  • Provide high-level briefings and updates to Seagate leadership teams on key trade compliance matters
  • Research and stay abreast of relevant compliance subject matters, regulations and best practices
  • Provide support to the wider Compliance & Ethics Program and other regulatory matters as required

  • Keen interest and desire for continued professional development and learning

Your experience includes:

 

  • Demonstrated compliance and governance leadership experience in trade compliance particularly in the in-house environment
  • An engineering background particularly with knowledge of and experience in emerging technologies, network and cyber security, cloud computing, and online and mobile applications would be very advantageous for this role
  • Demonstrated experience designing, managing leading and executing large-scale, enterprise-wide projects
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills adapted to the needs of the target audience
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and ability to work cross-functionally, including with executive and management-level colleagues
  • U.S. citizenship is required as it is anticipated that this role will support business initiatives related to federal government contracts that require security clearance
  • Juris Doctorate and bar admission as well as 11+ years of experience, primarily as an in-house trade lawyer in a global corporate environment

  • Compliance/governance certifications are desired, although not a requirement

 

The estimated base salary range for this position is $150,900.00 - $220,000.00. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Preference will be shown to candidates in or around the Longmont, CO or Bloomington, MN areas who are willing to work in a hybrid work structure as we have tier one sites in those areas.
