Job ID:  14464

About our group:

The Sputter Process Engineering team (RMO) is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining thinfilm deposition processes for advanced PMR and HAMR media technologies.

Based in Singapore and part of a global engineering network, we drive process excellence, yield improvement, and highvolume manufacturing readiness. We collaborate closely with suppliers, R&D, and crossfunctional teams to enable nextgeneration media performance through materials and process innovation.

About the role - you will:

As a key technical contributor, you will lead material performance and process integration for sputtering targets in highvolume manufacturing.

  • Serve as the technical lead for sputtering target materials, focusing on magnetic, mechanical, and microstructural properties.
  • Define and optimize target material specifications to meet process stability, film performance, and reliability requirements.
  • Drive supplier qualification and improvement, with strong understanding of target manufacturing processes (e.g., casting, HIP, bonding).
  • Lead investigation of materialrelated excursions, establishing linkages between material properties and process performance.
  • Integrate target behavior with sputter process conditions to improve yield, OEE, and process robustness.
  • Apply material characterization and data analytics to correlate target attributes with film quality and product performance.
  • Evaluate and qualify nextgeneration target materials for PMR and HAMR applications.
  • Establish standards, control strategies, and best practices for target management across operations.

About you:

  • Innovative, inclusive, and integrity-driven.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
  • Strong team player with a collaborative and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
  • Detail-oriented, results-driven, and capable of working independently when required.
  • Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive and capable of leading initiatives across crossfunctional teams.

Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Metallurgy, or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of materials properties, microstructure, and characterization techniques.
  • Experience in supplier management, qualification, or technical issue resolution.
  • Handson experience in sputtering, vacuum deposition, or thinfilm processes.
  • Proven ability in troubleshooting and driving process improvements in manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with advanced characterization techniques (e.g., XRD, SEM, TEM, magnetic measurements) or related methods.
