Sputter and Equipment Development Engineering (SpEDE) is a function that focuses on Research, Development, and Sustaining the 200Lean tools and associated equipment. We ensure alignment with internal stakeholders at Seagate-Woodlands and Seagate-Fremont to provide media sputter solutions for existing and future products.

About the role - you will:

 

This role, reporting to the Senior Director of Equipment Development Engineering at SpEDE, oversees the complete development and deployment of 200L equipment projects, managing multiple initiatives at once. It ensures alignment with company objectives by supervising project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, and stakeholder communication. Additionally, the position addresses new 200L requests and enhancement inquiries from end users post-delivery, providing ongoing support and issue resolution. Effective coordination of cross-functional teams at Recording Media Operations (RMO) and a strong focus on achieving committed goals and delivering results are key responsibilities. 

 

  • 200L Project Planning and Execution: Lead the project team in all related 200L development activities, including generating project schedules, resource allocation plans, and ensuring alignment with overall project goals. Collaborate with end-users at RMO to define scope, deliverables, and success criteria; establish milestones; and define methodologies for monitoring progress to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with factory teams and key stakeholders to define project goals, and key deliverables, ensuring alignment on project outcomes and resource needs.
  • Resource and Cost Management: Partner with resource managers to allocate resources, estimate project costs, track the budget, and report cost performance to relevant stakeholders. Monitor project expenses to ensure alignment with budget goals and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Risk Management and Decision-Making: Identify project risks, implement control measures, and make strategic decisions to minimize uncertainties. Utilize problem-solving methodologies to address issues raised by the factory.
  • Communication and Reporting: Provide regular updates to executives and stakeholders, generate progress reports, and present the overall project status to the management team, as needed.
  • Compliance with Process and Documentation: Ensure following the equipment development engineering (EDE) project life cycle, and best practices, and maintain organized documentation for all project phases.

 

About you:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Detailed knowledge of 200L process and equipment design.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and effective communication.
  • Ability to see the big picture while managing project details and balancing competing priorities.
  • Proficient in problem-solving, decision-making, and risk management.
  • Strong communication and information-sharing skills to support global teams, with proficiency in project management tools such as RTPM, TDR, JIRA, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Adaptability and Growth Mindset: Eager to learn new tools, processes, and technologies to improve project delivery, and willing to adjust in a dynamic and evolving work environment.

Your experience includes:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with 200L design and manufacturing and involvement in sputter process development. 
  • Experience in project management and proven success in managing large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects in a technical environment.
  • Proven expertise in stakeholder management, with a strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across diverse teams, including internal departments and external partners such as suppliers and third-party vendors.
