- Lead the Factory Quality Engineering team to deliver quality components, products, and processes aligned with Seagate’s product development roadmap.
- Partner with Factory Engineering, Operations, cross-functional stakeholders, and suppliers to optimize throughput and ensure robust, reliable manufacturing processes and products.
- Drive team performance to achieve targets aligned with organizational objectives.
- Prepare and/or initiate DMRs (Discrepant Material Reviews) for containment of nonconforming parts and provide proactive “feed-forward” alerts to the factory.
- Provide coaching and operational support to the team to ensure timely completion of assigned deliverables.
- Collaborate with Factory Engineering on new product development and media qualification.
- Partner with Design Engineering, Process Engineering, and Production to drive product and process improvements that increase margin and enhance process stability.
- Support Seagate drive factories and operations sites with NPI builds and qualification activities.
- Coordinate with Drive Factory Quality and Operations to ensure ramp readiness for new products, and track key indicators (e.g., yield, quality, qualification status, ramp readiness, SBR, and RGA builds).
- Document and follow up on qualification plans for both processes and products.
- Monitor qualification activities owned by the factory and operations sites to ensure process readiness at volume production quantities.
- Partner with Contamination/MSCE, the Design Center (DC), and Supplier Engineering (SE) on component cleanliness, cleaning technologies, and process capability and controls, including establishing and maintaining cleanliness requirements.
- Review, manage, and follow up on quality issues and performance for assigned products raised by the RMO factory; communicate status and track actions with STX factory teams.
- Ensure timely implementation of supplier corrective and preventive actions through CAPA/8D and OSB processes.
- Report and escalate potential quality issues and business impacts to senior quality management as appropriate.
- Conduct on-site process audits as required.
- Partner with SQE to monitor and validate supplier process or product changes through the Supplier Process Change Management process.
- Evaluate and consolidate input for performance evaluations.
- Partner with SQE on projects to reduce variation in incoming materials.
- Collaborate with Seagate drive factories, Operations, Engineering/Equipment, and Design Engineering (DE) to facilitate cross-learning and knowledge sharing with supplier teams, improving component process capability and product performance.
