Sputtering is the heart of media process in recording media organization. The Sputter Process Engineering team (RMO) is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining thin-film deposition processes for advanced PMR and HAMR media technologies.

We are a dynamic team working in a world’s largest state-of-the art magnetic media manufacturing environment with highly automated processes and advanced control systems. We pride ourselves on delivering committed equipment performance and operational objectives through effective maintenance, technology, and innovation to help Seagate succeed.

About the role - you will:

  • Monitor daily sputter machine performance, including yield and defectivity.
  • Perform defect analysis and work closely with Failure Analysis (FA) teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Evaluate different target materials and assess impact on: Defects, Machine performance, Magnetic properties.
  • Collaborate with target suppliers on issue resolution and improvement initiatives.
  • Work with equipment and maintenance teams to drive quality, cost, and productivity improvements.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and process transfer optimization, with focus on defect reduction.

About you:

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Physics, or related).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and drive process improvements.
  • Experienced in data analysis, statistical analysis, and interpreting large datasets to support engineering decisions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, charting, data visualization, and analysis).

Your experience includes:

  • Knowledge or exposure to Manufacturing / Process engineering / Materials processing is advantageous.
