About our group:

The Recording Media Operations (RMO) manufacturing team is responsible for direct supervision of the manufacturing specialists, overseeing operational activities to meet production goals, quality, safety and cost objectives. We work with cross functional departments to implement, sustain Lean and Kaizen initiatives, improve productivity by studying work activities, analyzing value add and non-value add and motion time study, improve factory throughput by focusing improvement on bottleneck capacity, inventory and manufacturing cycle time reduction.

As part of RMO’s digital transformation efforts, the team increasingly leverages data, automation, and AI to improve operational excellence and this internship contributes directly to that journey.

About the role - you will:

As a Recording Media Operations Intern, you will support a range of Machine Learning, AI, GenAI, and data‑driven projects aimed at improving manufacturing operations. You will:

  • Collect, clean, label, and organize structured and unstructured datasets (image, numerical, or mixed‑type).
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover operational patterns, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Build, test and evaluate ML models (e.g., classification, regression, clustering)
  • Contribute and support feature engineering, data preprocessing, and workflow automation steps.
  • Document experiments, summarize findings, and share insights with engineering and operations stakeholders.
  • Assist with prototype deployment or light integration work where applicable (e.g., basic scripts, dashboards, or automation tools).

About you:

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Curious, analytical, and eager to learn new technologies and methods.
  • Comfortable working with data and applying logical reasoning to solve real operations problems.
  • Able to communicate clearly and collaborate with both engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and proactive in exploring solutions.
  • Interest in automation, data visualization, or data quality engineering.
  • Able to commit to a full‑time internship from May/Aug to Dec.

Your experience includes:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a similar field.
  • Proficiency in Python and common ML libraries (e.g., scikit‑learn, pandas, numpy).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot and related apps (e.g., Power Automate, Power BI).
  • Basic understanding of supervised learning concepts and evaluation metrics.

Location:

Our Woodlands site is one of the largest electronics manufacturing sites in Singapore, housing our recording media operations. Spread over three sites, it is easily accessible via bus or from the MRT Station, with many employees taking mass transportation to work. Here at work, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks at our onsite canteen and coffee shop. We offer a range of facilities including an in-house gym and dance studio, as well as after-work badminton and table tennis competitions. On-site celebrations and community volunteer opportunities also abound.
