About our group:

Multi Disk Writer (MDW) Automation group is responsible for the automation concepts and systems in the backend manufacturing process of Recording Media operation (RMO).  The MDW automation is responsible for all movement of cassettes in and out of the Test Cells/Mxs, assembling of disc packs needed for testing, disassembling back into the appropriate cassettes and transporting them back to the unloading station as finished goods (FG).  The MDW automation team handles systems ranging for multi axis robots to conveyor systems. The goal of the automation team is to maintain all the robotic systems in the production floor with highest efficiency and minimum downtime while exceling the quality standards. 

About the role - you will:

As a data analyst in the MDW automation group, you will gain working knowledge of the data domain that is involved in the layout and the movement of cassettes in the production floor and the automation events that is involved with this process. 

  • Gain hands-on experience in the clean-room operations and the tasks involved with the automation systems.
  • Use Python and other software to parse log files and corelate events in the factory floor.
  • Understand the key metrics that are involved in the MDW automation process.
  • Work on projects to understand areas for improvement in the automation flow.
  • Provide support and data analytical expertise in the ad hoc activities that is required to run the automation.
  • Study possible avenues to develop systems that mine data on real-time to provide active feedback to production personnel who man the automation systems.

What Will You Learn and Embark on at the Start?

  • Overall understanding of the manufacturing process of magnetic media
  • Understand clean room protocols and procedures in the automation domain.
  • Existing data domain in the factory and work flow of automation events and activities that occur on a daily basis.

What You Would Ultimately Be Able to Be Proficient In?

  • You should be able to have a solid foundation in data analysis with regard to a manufacturing environment.
  • Develop and adapt data mining skills to suit manufacturing environment.
  • Become proficient in analyzing systems from the data domain perspective and able to improve existing systems.
  • Create documentation that will capture key ideas and work done. 

About you:

  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively convey issues and suggestions both verbally and in documentation form.
  • Team Player: A collaborative mindset with the ability to work seamlessly with other teams.

Your experience includes:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in data science and analytics.
  • Proficient in python and web-based application development. (Streamlit, Prefect Server)
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Able to commit a full time internship from (May/Aug to Dec)

Our Woodlands site is one of the largest electronics manufacturing sites in Singapore, housing our recording media operations. Spread over three sites, it is easily accessible via bus or from the MRT Station, with many employees taking mass transportation to work.
