About our group:

 

The Supply Chain, Materials group provides direct materials support across all HDD and Systems New Product Development (NPD) programs. The team partners closely with global engineering, manufacturing, commodity management, and supplier teams to enable seamless program execution, material readiness, and supply alignment. The group also plays a key role in supporting advanced development and NPD activities across LCO (Longmont) and Asia factories, ensuring product builds are delivered on time and in full.

About the role - you will:

 

  • Represent Materials and Supplier Engineering on the Product Core Team (CT).
  • Develop and drive the supplier sourcing strategy in collaboration with Commodity Management.
  • Create and maintain program timelines and Gantt charts, highlighting key milestones such as design releases and tooling readiness.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Supplier Engineering, Purchasing, and Commodity Management to ensure selected suppliers are qualified before product launch.
  • Ensure weekly drive build plans are aligned with the latest material directives from the CT and Engineering teams.
  • Lead design change management, including qualification and implementation, in close collaboration with Design Engineering, Purchasing, and Supplier Engineering.
  • Drive gap analysis, risk mitigation, and issue resolution, including timely escalation when required.
  • Collaborate with factory teams to manage and disposition excess and down-level materials.
  • Support financial objectives by monitoring expenditure and managing the impact of design-related changes.
  • Ensure BOMs are accurately structured to support drive builds.
  • Manage PCBA contract manufacturers (CM), including:
    • Provide NPD/pre-volume demand and ensure supply support is in place.
    • Perform PCB loading for NPD and pre-volume builds.
    • Ensure production lines and test capabilities are set up on time to meet NPD requirements.
    • Support new site and line qualifications to ensure ramp readiness.
    • Drive qualification of new and alternate sources and new PCBA designs.
    • Liaise between Seagate and CMs on PCBA issues impacting NPD supply.

Your experience includes:

 

  • Knowledge of PCBA processes is an added advantage.
  • Prior experience in program or project management and/or purchasing is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience.
