The Data Science and Tools Development team is at the forefront of AI Transformation within Seagate's Product Development Group. Our mission is to leverage AI and Machine Learning technologies to accelerate product development, ensuring that we meet production volume and reliability standards. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Data Scientist to join our dynamic and growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, machine learning, and statistical analysis, with a proven track record of solving complex problems and delivering actionable insights. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will lead data-driven projects, mentor junior team members, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and innovation.

About the role - you will:

  • Lead and execute data science projects from concept to deployment, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Develop and implement advanced machine learning models and algorithms to solve business problems.
  • Experienced in data processing and building pipeline components.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to extract meaningful insights and identify trends.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions.
  • Mentor and guide junior data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences through reports, presentations, and visualizations.
  • Collaborate with research institutions on exploratory projects
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and related technologies.

About you:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a related field.

Your experience includes:

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or SQL.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large and complex datasets.
  • Familiar with Apache Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka for handling large-scale data processing.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
