The software test team in Singapore develops, maintains, and supports the software systems that enable HDD backend test operations. Working at the intersection of manufacturing and engineering, the team delivers innovative software solutions that enhance factory efficiency, improve product quality, optimize test processes, and ensure operational reliability. Through close collaboration with test, process, and manufacturing engineers, the department plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement and supporting high-volume production environments.

About the role - you will:

 

Develop and support test process scripts

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Python-based scripts in a Linux environment to support manufacturing operations and product quality.
  • Identify and implement test process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, including test time reduction and workflow optimization.
  • Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams across multiple Seagate locations to support project execution and problem-solving activities.
  • Resolve software issues quickly to maintain system uptime and test efficiency.

Set up and maintain test equipment

  • Set up and maintain testers in the lab, including performing regular updates of tester software and operating systems.

Support legacy system transformation

  • Refactor, upgrade, and validate existing code to improve maintainability, reliability, and performance.

Develop, maintain, and support the HDD Auto Disposition system

  • Be part of the team that develops, maintains, and supports the HDD Auto Disposition system used to analyze failed drives and provide rework disposition in backend production.

 

Note: This role will be based at Shugart and may be required to support operations at the Woodlands site on an ad-hoc basis.

  • Effective communicator with good interpersonal skills.

 

Your experience includes:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in software and firmware development is preferred. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

 

Core Technical Skills: 

 

  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python, Java, and SQL for developing, deploying, and managing large-scale production software.
  • Linux & Operating Systems: Proficiency with Linux OS, custom kernel builds, Kickstart installations, and package management with RPM/Yum.
  • Database Fundamentals: Basic proficiency in relational databases and SQL. Knowledge of MongoDB is a bonus.
  • AI: Hands-on experience with AI tools is an added advantage.
