The Advanced Recording Subsystem, or ARS, organization develops key recording technologies that enable disc drive product development and productization. The organization brings together expertise across head and media recording, electrical and mechanical systems, read channel technology, and preamplifier technology. 

Within ARS, the Read Channel team focuses on integrating mixed-signal analog and digital ASIC technology into disc drive electronics. The team enables reliable reading and writing of data to magnetic media and implements new read channel capabilities that support product performance, capacity, quality, and time-to-market objectives. 

• Support the integration of read channel electronics into magnetic recording systems for disc drives. 
• Integrate read channel ASIC technology to enable reliable reading and writing of data to magnetic media.  
• Design and conduct experiments to validate system behavior and performance.  
• Investigate and resolve technical issues arising during product design, integration, and production.  
• Develop and improve read channel optimization and error-recovery procedures.  
• Implement new read channel features in disc drive products.  
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to understand system-level requirements, interfaces, and design considerations.  
• Contribute to product development, design improvements, and technology enhancements that support higher capacity and faster time to market.

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline. 
• Foundational knowledge of analog and digital electronics.  
• Knowledge of magnetic recording subsystems, including heads, media, read channel technology, and preamplifiers, which would be advantageous.  
• Familiarity with laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and waveform generators.  
• Exposure to experimental design, data analysis, technical troubleshooting, or system integration.  
• Programming experience in one or more of the following: C, MATLAB, or Python, which would be advantageous.  
• Experience working with mixed-signal systems, ASIC integration, signal processing, or embedded systems would be beneficial.
