Working at the intersection of law, business, and people, the Employment Law Team partners with HR and business leaders around the world to support a diverse global workforce in a highly complex manufacturing and technology environment, providing practical legal guidance on critical workforce and business challenges.

The team goes beyond traditional legal advisory—proactively modernizing employment practices, driving consistency across jurisdictions, and leading through periods of significant organizational change. This is an opportunity to play a key role in a high-performing team, influencing workforce strategy and business decisions across a global manufacturing and technology enterprise while helping the organization navigate the evolving future of work with integrity, compliance, and a strong commitment to its people.

About the role - you will:

This role is designed for a lawyer who wants to do more than advise - you will be a trusted partner, strategic thinker, and catalyst for change across the Asia Pacific region.

  • Proactively identify legal risks, evaluate practical solutions, and enable business objectives in a manner consistent with Seagate's values and compliance obligations.
  • Influence and advise leaders at all levels of the organization; build credibility, challenge assumptions constructively, and drive meaningful change through thoughtful engagement, practical solutions, and strong business partnership.
  • Drive initiatives from concept through implementation, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to build alignment, remove obstacles, and ensure meaningful changes are successfully adopted and sustained across the organization
  • Identify and lead initiatives to update and improve policies and processes.
  • Advise on a broad range of employment matters, including employee relations issues, performance management, disciplinary actions, terminations, workforce restructurings, reductions in force, leaves of absence, accommodations, compensation programs, and executive employment issues.
  • Conduct and oversee internal investigations involving employee complaints, workplace misconduct, ethics concerns, and other sensitive matters.
  • Manage employment litigation, administrative proceedings, government agency claims, and pre-litigation disputes, including oversight of outside counsel and litigation strategy.
  • Develop and implement employment-related policies, templates and other documents, and training initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Provide legal support for mergers, acquisitions, integrations, divestitures, and other strategic business transactions involving workforce considerations.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in Legal, HR, Compliance, IT and business teams across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, often outside of local business hours to support a global workforce.
  • Monitor legal developments and emerging employment law trends across relevant jurisdictions and translate those developments into actionable guidance for HR and senior leadership.
  • Perform special assignments or projects as needed
  • Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by manager

About you:

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A proactive change agent who is energized by improving how things work and challenging the status quo. Skilled at fostering alignment among diverse stakeholders in order to effectively move initiatives forward even when long-standing practices are deeply entrenched.

  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, complex environment
  • A strong influencer and advisor to senior leaders and HR partners on sensitive topics
  • Pragmatic and solutions-oriented, with sound judgment and commercial awareness
  • Highly collaborative, with the ability to work effectively across cultures, geographies, and time zones
  • Adaptable, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities under pressure
  • An exceptional communicator who can translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance

Your experience includes:

  • Deep understanding of multi-jurisdictional employment law and regulatory frameworks across Asia Pacific
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both legal and non-legal audiences.
  • Experience supporting M&A and organizational change for a global company
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and deliver practical, business-aligned solutions
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours to support global operations and communicate with colleagues in various time zones.
