Seagate’s Legal Team is comprised of smart, diverse, motivated, and collaborative professionals situated across our global offices. We are a cross-functional team with expertise in various legal specialties to assist the business in navigating complex legal and operating environments worldwide. Within the legal department, the Compliance and Ethics (C&E) team manages the compliance program and organizational structures for Seagate, focusing on key compliance areas such as trade compliance, anti-bribery & anti-corruption (ABAC), antitrust, data privacy, AI governance, and ESG reporting requirements. The team oversees essential elements of the program including reporting structures, training and awareness, policy development, regulatory tracking, adherence to international standards, and monitoring. We provide practical guidance and support to evaluate and resolve compliance matters, confirming business models and go-to-market practices incorporate compliance best practices. Our C&E team is committed to delivering excellent support to our internal business partners.

About the role - you will:

 

  • Work closely with C&E leadership and teammates to proactively advance Seagate’s global C&E Program.
  • Manage a portfolio of global compliance and ethics matters to support business teams.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of key compliance policies, processes, risk assessments, and remediation plans.
  • Track and analyze the impact of existing and new regulations in key compliance areas.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and business teams to understand business needs and design effective compliance initiatives and implementation plans.
  • Work with Seagate’s Commercial Contracts team to review, draft, and negotiate compliance-related provisions in contracts and legal documents.
  • Partner with the C&E training team and relevant stakeholders to design and implement effective training and awareness programs.
  • Lead third-party due diligence and supply chain compliance programs.
  • Share responsibilities with other attorneys to maintain balanced workloads within the department.
  • Coordinate with other areas of the legal department, including commercial contracts, dispute resolution, intellectual property, government relations, and labor law on jurisdictional or site-specific projects.
  • Manage and lead ad hoc projects focused on process improvements.

About you:

 

  • Law degree or equivalent, with admission to practice law and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a C&E attorney role, demonstrating leadership in global compliance initiatives, including APAC, EMEA and the US.
  • Ability to deliver efficient, practical, effective solutions for global compliance programs and incidents.
  • A motivated self-starter and collaborative team player.
  • Ability to exercise independent, risk-based judgment and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled at developing and maintaining strong cross-functional partnerships at all organizational levels, recognized as a trusted and strategic legal business partner who actively participates in problem-solving with peers and executive leaders.
  • Thorough understanding of the role’s importance in protecting Seagate.
  • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills in English.

Your experience includes:

 

  • Leading global compliance programs.
  • Expertise in ABAC, antitrust, supply chain compliance, third party risk, including US experience.
  • Interviewing internal clients to understand business requirements.
  • Delivering in-person and virtual training to key business teams.
  • Providing executive-level briefings and reports for key program initiatives.
  • Drafting, developing, reviewing, and explaining internal policies to stakeholders.
  • Experience with cross-functional projects and teams for process improvement or problem-solving.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Copilot and other Microsoft Office products.
