Seagate’s Legal Team is represented by a group of smart, diverse, dynamic, motivated and collaborative professionals situated in our offices around the globe. We are a cross-functional team with expertise in a variety of legal specialties to assist the business as it navigates the complex legal and operating environment worldwide.  Within the legal department, the Compliance and Ethics (C&E) team manages the compliance and ethics program and organizational structures for Seagate, focusing on key compliance areas such as Trade Compliance, Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption (ABAC), Antitrust, Data Privacy, AI Governance, ESG related reporting requirements. The team also manages all key elements of a C&E program such as training and awareness, policy development, regulatory tracking, adherence to international standards and monitoring. We provide guidance and support to the business to evaluate and resolve compliance related matters and to ensure business models and go-to-market practices are designed with compliance best practices built-in. Our C&E team is dedicated to delivering outstanding support to our internal business partners.

About the role - you will:

 

  • Work closely with C&E team members to proactively drive the further development of Seagate’s Global C&E Program. Your role will focus on our Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC) and Antitrust Programs (Focus Areas). You will also assist in other key areas such as Data Privacy and Product Compliance.
  • Manage a portfolio of global compliance and ethics related matters, particularly within your Focus Areas to support our business teams.
  • Collaborate with the Seagate Commercial Contracts team to review, draft and negotiate compliance related provisions in contracts and other legal documents.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and business teams to understand business needs and design compliance initiatives that work well for the business.
  • Lead the design, development and implementation of key compliance policies, processes, risk assessments and remediation action plans in your Focus Areas.
  • Collaborate with the C&E training program team and relevant stakeholders to design and implement appropriate training and awareness programs in your Focus Areas.
  • Lead the tracking of existing and new regulations in your Focus Areas including analysis of impact for Seagate and implementation of relevant regulations at Seagate.
  • Lead the program around third-party due diligence in your Focus Areas. This will include the design and analysis of due diligence on third parties and managing Seagate’s response to third party ABAC and compliance related questionnaires.
  • Share responsibilities with other attorneys to maintain a balanced workload within the department.
  • Assist and coordinate with other areas of the legal department, including commercial contracts, dispute resolution, intellectual property, government relations, and labor law on local jurisdiction and site-specific projects.
  • Manage and lead ad hoc projects with a focus on driving processes improvements.

About you:

 

  • Law degree or equivalent with admission to practice law and a minimum of 10 years in a C&E attorney role, with a proven track record of leading global compliance initiatives and programs in your Focus Areas for a global US company.
  • Ability to manage and deliver efficient and effective solutions for global compliance programs and issues in your Focus Areas.
  • Experience, including US related experience in other key areas of compliance such as data privacy, product compliance and supply chain compliance.
  • A motivated self-starter who excels as a collaborative team player.
  • Ability to exercise independent risk-based judgment and employ creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with all levels of the organization, and be recognized by clients as a trusted and strategic legal business partner that actively participates in problem solving with cross-functional peers as well as executive leaders by assessing risks, weighing in and making recommendations to the business.
  • Thorough understanding of the role’s implications in protecting Seagate.
  • Capability to make sound business recommendations.
  • Skilled in managing and prioritizing multiple issues, tasks, and projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written professional communication skills in English.

Your experience includes:

 

  • Leading global compliance programs relating to your Focus Areas.
  • Data privacy, product compliance and supply chain compliance, including US related experience in these areas
  • Interviewing internal clients to understand business requirements.
  • Delivering in-person and virtual training programs to key business teams.
  • Providing executive level briefings and reports in relation to key program initiatives.
  • Drafting, developing, reviewing and explaining internal policies to stakeholders.
  • Experience with cross-functional projects and teams for process improvement or problem-solving.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office software products.
