About our group:

Our engineering team develops and qualifies printed circuit board (PCB) designs and PCBA assembly processes for electronics used across Seagate products, including hard disk drive assemblies. We partner closely with Hardware Engineering, product design, quality, manufacturing, and external suppliers to develop PCB land patterns, introduce new components and processes, and ensure robust, manufacturable solutions that meet product and industry requirements. 

We are looking for an outstanding Process Development Engineer to join our team.

This is an individual contributor role, reports to the Manager, PCBA Development Engineering, based in One North, Singapore.

About the role - you will:

  • Process Development & Optimization
    • Design, implement, and optimize SMT processes including solder paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow, and inspection.
    • Establish process parameters such as stencil design, reflow profiles, and placement accuracy.
  • Process Improvement
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yield, quality, and cycle time.
    • Conduct DOE, SPC, and capability analysis for process control.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Monitor production quality and ensure compliance with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, J-STD-001).
    • Analyze defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. 
  • Documentation & Standardization
    • Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
    • Support NPI activities including process qualification and validation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with design, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure product reliability and manufacturability.
    • Provide feedback for DFM/DFT improvements.

About you:

  • Study in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Hands-on, resourceful, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Results-oriented and meticulous, with strong ownership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across functions, sites, and supplier organizations. 

Your experience includes:

  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience with SPC, DOE, and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
  • Ability to analyze yield data and drive improvements
  • Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment

Location:

The Shugart site (named after Seagate’s founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center. Easily accessible from the One-North MRT Station, many employees choose to take mass transportation to work.
