Material Scientist (Graduate Program)
Shugart, SG
About our group:
Seagate Research Group (SRG) conducts research to transform Seagate’s considerable technical expertise, innovation, and manufacturing excellence to develop innovative technologies for the rapidly growing datasphere.
SRG’s Software and Applied AI Research section conducts research in applying Machine Learning for Seagate advance project, products, and processes which includes material discovery, AI assisted design for the next generation HAMR technologies.
For designing our next generation HAMR HDD, we employ State-of-the-Art ML methods for Simulation and Model with Physics Informed ML Models. We also leverage AI/Generative AI to assist in design of HDD Components. Further we are exploring new frontiers in Material Discovery for our HDD media/other components. This research will imbibe our HDD media/components with advantageous and unique magnetic properties that will help us to achieve higher data areal densities and IO performance
