About our group:
Seagate Singapore Design Center (SSDC) is hiring a Firmware/Software Intern in the Product Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved with new product development, using Agile / SCRUM methodologies. The Firmware Product Development group is responsible for the development of new technologies and features to enhance the reliability and performance of the disc drives. The team has a deep technical expertise in firmware design and a passion for developing cutting-edge solutions. The group supports the mainstream Nearline products. The team is involved in staging of new technologies like multiple-actuator drives (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRlm3K_a_lU) and the definition of the hardware and firmware architecture for the next generation products.
About the role - you will:
As a firmware intern, in the worldwide Firmware Engineering team architect, develop, and deploy software/tools/firmware across the Seagate market space. Your responsibilities will include: Designing and developing embedded firmware for storage devices using languages such as C. Creating and refining tools and utilities to support firmware development. Enhancing and optimizing existing firmware platforms and libraries. Collaborating with our global teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges. Applying independent judgment to select methods and techniques for designing and obtaining solutions.
About you:
We are looking for someone who is: Self-motivated and quick to learn new skills. A critical thinker with the ability to solve complex problems effectively. An excellent communicator, capable of clearly articulating technical challenges and solutions. Able to demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Your experience includes:
Currently pursuing Bachelor's in Computer Engineering or any relevant fields Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Python. A strong understanding of micro-controller systems and their interaction with firmware. Familiarity with development tools such as emulators, trace, version control systems, oscilloscopes, compilers, linkers, and analyzers. Familiarity with DevOps and web-based development tools.
Location:
The Shugart site (named after Seagate’s founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center. Easily accessible from the One-North MRT Station, many employees choose to take mass transportation to work.
