About the role - you will:

We are seeking a business-minded, technology-focused Senior Corporate Counsel I to join our global legal team in Singapore. This role is ideal for a commercial transactions lawyer who enjoys partnering with business stakeholders, supporting local, regional, and global commercial matters, and delivering practical legal advice in a fast-paced technology environment.

 

What You'll Do 

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor and supplier contracts, services agreements, technology licensing agreements, procurement agreements, sales-related agreements, NDAs, amendments, and other business contracts. 

  • Use AI and legal technology tools to support contract review, legal analysis, and other legal tasks. 

  • Provide practical legal advice to internal clients on contract terms, legal risk, approval requirements, and company policies. 

  • Identify non-standard contract terms, escalate issues appropriately, and help drive practical, risk-based resolutions. 

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into practical contractual solutions. 

  • Support contract lifecycle activities, including drafting, negotiation, review, approval routing, execution, amendment, renewal, and archiving. 

  • Ensure contracts are reviewed, negotiated, approved, executed, and managed in compliance with Seagate policies and applicable legal requirements. 

  • Collaborate with colleagues across Legal, Finance, Procurement, Sales, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, Information Security, and other functions. 

  • Stay informed on legal and regulatory developments relevant to commercial contracting, technology transactions, data privacy, trade compliance, anti-corruption, competition law, and related areas. 

  • Support process improvement initiatives, contract templates, playbooks, training, audits, and other legal department projects as needed. 

  • Coordinate with outside counsel when appropriate and under the guidance of senior legal team members. 

About you:

  • Practical, business-oriented lawyer with sound judgment and strong attention to detail. 

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, issue-spotting, and analytical skills. 

  • Able to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Comfortable working independently while also collaborating across multiple sites, functions, regions, and time zones. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. 

  • Builds trusted relationships with stakeholders and delivers clear, concise, and actionable legal advice. 

  • Organized, responsive, collaborative, and committed to high standards of ethics and integrity. 

  • Demonstrates a strong interest in technology, commercial contracting, and supporting a global business. 

  • Comfortable using CLM platforms, AI tools, and other business systems to work efficiently and support continuous improvement. 

Your experience includes:

  • Law degree or equivalent legal qualification, with admission to practice law in Singapore or another relevant jurisdiction. 

  • Approximately 5–8 years of post-qualification transactional legal experience, preferably including experience with commercial contracts, technology transactions, procurement, sales, licensing, or other cross-border commercial matters. 

  • Experience at a law firm, multinational company, or in-house legal department supporting commercial transactions is preferred. 

  • Strong understanding of core commercial contracting principles and the legal and business implications of contract language. 

  • Experience advising technology, manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, or sales teams is a plus. 

  • Familiarity with Singapore, APAC, and global commercial legal issues, including data privacy, trade compliance, anti-corruption, competition law, or related regulatory areas, is desirable. 

  • Experience using contract lifecycle management tools and Microsoft Office 365 products is preferred. 

  • Experience leveraging AI, legal technology, automation, or process improvement initiatives is a plus.
