About the role - you will:

  • Learn about embedded systems design in modern devices.
  • Design and improve device drivers and embedded firmware.
  • Study how software/firmware and hardware interact.
  • Collaborate with HW/SW technologists and engineers.
  • Program using C, C++, and Python.

About you:

  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and a self-motivated worker with a desire to learn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of engineers.
  • Strong desire to solve complicated problems.

Your experience includes:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Mathematics and will be returning to school in Fall 2026.
  • Structured C or C++ and Python programming skills.
  • Familiar with Linux.
  • Understand microcontroller architecture.
  • Develop software on both Windows and Linux.
  • Familiar with software project concepts such as CICD, unit testing, cross platform compilation.

You might also have:

  • Familiarity with other languages such as Rust or Go.
  • Familiarity with low level simulation models like QEMU.
  • Familiarity with Agile / SCRUM methodologies.

Our Shakopee campus is located 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in a setting with a rural vibe – it overlooks a horse racing track and stables, yet it has great entertainment venues close by as well. With wide-open spaces, the campus has plenty of space for running, biking, shooting some hoops or playing volleyball over lunch. If working out is your thing, the on-site fully equipped fitness center hosts wellness programs, tournaments and group workouts. Hungry? Seagate offers an on-site café with freshly sourced foods and specialty coffees, or if you prefer, drive to one of many restaurants just minutes away.  

 

The estimated base wage range for this position is $27.00-29.00/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan.  Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave.  The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
