Firmware Engineer II

Location: 

Shakopee, MN, US

About our group:

 

 

 

- Our team develops and maintains firmware for processor/SoC initialization, memory management, power management, stack and kernel operations, file system, debug information logging, and other components which provide the core firmware architecture for disc drives and storage devices. 
- This role is critical in supporting teams across the organization to build highly optimized firmware designs for storage products. The candidate should possess software programming and debugging skills with the use of hardware and software tools, and test equipment to deliver high quality, high-performance firmware.
- Your code will reside inside tens of millions of storage devices worldwide. This means that you will be instrumental in moving and securing the world's data.  Now that's "making a difference" in the world!
- This is "real", hard core engineering that rewards innovation and excellent software and embedded firmware skills to design and engineer embedded, high performance, high volume, and high reliability firmware systems design
 

About the role - you will:

 

 

 

- Design, develop, analyze, troubleshoot, and debug Hard Disk Drive (HDD) firmware 
- Frequently program in C
- Often work with analog and digital hardware
- Rely on your knowledge and exposure to hardware design  
 

About you:

 

 

- You enjoy programming
- You like solving problems
- You are good communicator 
- You have knowledge and understanding of computer hardware architecture, memory technologies, and programming data structures and algorithms
 

Your experience includes:

 

 

- C language programming
- Troubleshooting, analyzing, designing and debugging embedded firmware
- Knowledge of SAS or SATA is plus
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 3+ years experience, or Master’s Degree in Engineering and 0+ years experience or equivalent education and experience.
