We are part of Seagate’s Equipment Development Engineering Organization. We develop state of the art equipment to enable low-cost component test utilized in the drive factories.Our group has been designing electronics used in the testing of drive components for over 20 years.

About the role - you will:

Seagate is looking for a Channel Electrical Engineer within our Equipment Development Organization in our design center in Shakopee, MN.  This candidate will join a team of engineers working to develop, qualify, and release complex electronic hardware as applied in disc drive head and media electric testers.  The work will be focused on the hardware and software integration of disc drive Channel ICs into HGA electric testers.  Work will be hands-on in an engineering lab, working with high-speed digital and analog circuits at the component, printed circuit assembly, and final application levels using a combination of commercial bench test equipment, specialized test fixtures, and custom software.

About you:

  • You have circuit design/signal processing experience.  
  • You are a highly motivated individual that enjoys hands-on activity, circuit design, troubleshooting, and data analysis. Successful Channel Engineers have excellent breadth and depth of technical capabilities, and work effectively within a highly collaborative, dynamic and capable team in a high technology lab environment.
  • You can interpret specifications, perform circuit checkout and troubleshooting, write reports, and develop and maintain documentation.
  • You have knowledge of Magnetic Recording principles, FPGA-based design, and analog and digital circuit design processes.
  • You are familiar with eCAD software tools.
  • You can develop and debug software required to operate and calibrate the circuit assemblies.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork is a core competency at Seagate, so individual must be able to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of engineers and technicians.
  • You have considerable judgment and motivation to complete actions.
  • You are expected to be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and be able to creatively solve problems as they arise.
  • You enjoy multitasking and focusing on completing numerous projects.

Your experience includes:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of experience, or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of experience, or PHD and 0+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience.

 

The estimated base salary range for this position is $92,310.40 - $131,994.72. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
