We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our IP, Data Governance and Litigation Group. This role offers the opportunity to engage with complex legal challenges that demand innovative, rapid, and strategic counsel.

An ideal candidate will bring extensive experience representing technology companies with a robust foundation in Intellectual Property, Open-Source, Technology Transactions, and Litigation.

About the role - you will:

 

  • Assist in day-to-day projects related to IP management and strategy, IP litigation, technology licensing, and IP defense
  • Evaluate risks and provide proactive legal counsel to business partners and the legal team to support innovation, mitigate potential risks, drive business goals, and foster compliance
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of legal professionals, paralegals, and external advisors to deliver comprehensive legal services
  • Understand Seagate’s business and have a willingness to dive into the technology and tools

  • Creative thinker, with demonstrated expertise in developing innovative legal strategies, challenging conventional practices, fostering collaboration, and delivering impactful results
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to address executive leadership confidently, even on short notice
  • Proficiency in managing external legal resources, including law firms, expert witnesses, and consultants, to optimize outcomes
  • Highly organized, resilient professional capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment while autonomously managing multiple projects without compromising quality or integrity
  • Ability to operate within a budget and work creatively to manage costs and maximize efficiency

Your experience includes:

 

  • Intellectual property strategy and management, freedom to operate analysis, technical interviews, patentability opinions, and infringement analysis
  • Drafting, negotiating, and managing various types of technology transactions, including technology licenses, software licenses, patent licenses, joint development agreements, and other types of similar transactions
  • Developing and managing trademark and trade secret strategy, ideally with some experience in addressing counterfeiting issues
  • Implementing and working with AI tools
  • Active bar membership, with a preference for licensure in Colorado or Minnesota.
  • Active US Patent Bar membership (USPTO)
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and an undergraduate degree in engineering, or undergraduate degree in hard sciences (chem/math/physics) and advanced degree in engineering
  • Minimum of 8+ years in legal practice with a blend of premier law firm and in-house legal department experience

 

You might also have:

 

  • Patent prosecution experience
  • Copyright and open-source experience

 

Salary: The estimated base salary range for this position is $146,800.00 - $210,000.00. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

We are open to a Remote worker in the United States. Occasional on-site visits to domestic and international offices or facilities will be required.
