About our group:
Asia HDM team is responsible for end-to-end HGA mechanical integration, providing technical leadership in CTQ-focused evaluation, risk management, and close collaboration with Drive product HDM to identify and close design gaps, ensuring smooth qualification, factory handoff, and sustained product performance.
About the role - you will:
- Act as mechanical Critical to Quality (CTQ) owner on cleaning related process changes and have ongoing monitoring plan, working with process owners.
- Account on proper execution of cleaning process evaluations & qualifications through slider & Head Gimbal Assembly (HGA) such as FEMTO.
- Communicate cleaning process change and mechanical Critical to Quality (CTQ) impact assessment at first level.
- Develop all Slider communications such as slider notification and slider alert letter to downstream for slider related issue (Slider through Drive).
- Coordinate with internal Slider factory team to address the customers’ qualifications related issues.
- Serve as a resource in investigating Failure Analysis modes that have been identified as slider contamination /defect related.
- Lead FA activities by working with cross-functional teams to find the root cause and come up with corrective action.
- Support Design Maturity Activities driven out of the US technology. This includes M1 support of relevant Slider Process change such as Mechanical / Cleaning Process/Recipe change.
- Support FDB (Far-east Development Build) and AMA (Advanced Mechanical Asia) Team and provide Design Owner the support for process changes.
- Provide Critical Build Review support and data analysis to ensure that downstream teams are supported and aware of the key build.
- Define and oversee mechanical evaluations and ensure best practices are followed and critical data are collected per evaluation request.
- Host a local meeting with Engineering & Support functions Team for head mechanical issue & coordinate with technical staff as necessary.
- Work with Minnesota, USA development team to identify new designs which may have process interactions and ensure that those interactions are explored and quantified to allow for improving the time of learning and quality of learning.
- Support HAMR (Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording) Ramp to ensure critical data are collected as well as ET Test script is fit for use and meet expectations of key stakeholders.

- Ability to create SQL scripts, with strong proficiency in SQL Plus or SQL Developer for data querying.
- Ability to create KNIME workflows.
- Project management skills.
Your experience includes:
- Good knowledge of product mechanical CTQ (Critical To Quality) parameters both Slider, HGA (Head Gimbal Assembly) e.g. Head Over Coat, Pole Tip Topography, and Air Bearing
- Mater degree of Chemistry/ Chemical Engineering/ Mechanical or related field with 3+ years of related experience, or bachelor’s degree of Chemistry/ Chemical/ Mechanical Engineering or related field with 6+ years of related experience.
- Having a good understanding of the Slider, HGA (Head Gimbal Assembly) process and Data Storage
- Strong technical background with an understanding of process engineering, process design, and cleaning chemistry including familiarity with surface chemistry lab analysis metrology equipment
- Strong data analysis skill and highly proficient in SQL (Structured Query Language) and Statistical Software e.g., JMP (Jump) and Minitab
- Understanding of Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) and Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) methodology
- Familiarity with Failure Analysis metrology equipment e.g., AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope)
- Have good understanding of cleaning system design & functionality, equipment maintenance, and cleanliness monitoring techniques
- Having a good understanding of process development and product development cycles
- Well, understanding of process and design maturity development and six sigma tools such as DOE’s, FMEA’s, CTQ flow down and scorecard development.
