About our group:

Head Gimbal Assembly Mechanical Integration (HGA/SLD MI) will serve as the liaison between Recording Head Technology Team (RHT), Process & Product Development Integration Team and Factory in Thailand. We are working together for the designed activities and mechanical evaluation to ensure best practices are followed and experiments are properly controlled. This also includes critical data collected and leading Failure Analysis (FA) investigation plan to narrow down the root cause and come up with a solution to improve time and quality of learning.

About the role - you will:

  • Lead design maturity activities driven out of Minnesota, USA development team to Teparuk and Korat factories. This includes product design maturity level 1 (M1) support of relevant Slider process change, HGA (Head Gimbal Assembly) process change, cleaning process and recipe change.
  • Overseeing the Head-Gimbal-Assembly (HGA) mechanical design and specification, thermo-mechanical design migration plan and customer support.
  • Defining and leading the mechanical product configuration for a successful product integration, driving for Time to Market (TTM), Time to Volume (TTV), cost, quality and reliability requirements.
  • Executing on product development deliverables through rigorous data analysis, management of Critical-To-Quality (CTQs) parameters, and application of Six Sigma tools such as DOE’s, design FMEA’s, CTQ flowdown, and scorecard development.
  • Managing component/drive experiments and prototype/pre-production builds, component and system performance, and effectively communicating key findings to a broad audience for several products.
  • Provide critical build review (CBR) and data analysis to ensure that downstream teams are supported and be aware of the key build.
  • Lead Failure Analysis activities by work with cross-functional teams to find the root cause and come up with corrective action.
  • Be responsible to a local meeting with the Factory operation team for Head products mechanical issue including to coordinate with technical staff as necessary.

  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks, manage the conflicts deadline and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Effectively plan, control and take responsibility for Mechanical Integration project.
  • Ability to assimilate multiple and diverse sources of information to understand the problem accurately before moving to proposal and solution.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in adapting communication style to effectively convey messages within a multicultural workplace.
  • Enthusiastic to gather new knowledge and positive attitude.
  • Excellent skills in organizing, scheduling and executing engineering projects in the cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to work independently and take on projects with minimum supervision.
