Staff Engineer - Electrical Design & Control Automation

About our group:

The Equipment Development Engineering (EDE) team is dedicated to delivering innovative equipment solutions and manufacturing technologies that align with Industry 4.0 standards. Our comprehensive process encompasses design, development, qualification, and integration. We specialize in automated machinery, tooling (such as Slider Electrical Test Socket--SETS and Minideck--MD), and process development for component testing systems, including Slider Dynamic Electrical Test (SDET) and Component Evaluation Tool (ComET).

About the role - you will:

• Lead design and develop electrical systems for automation machines, including schematics, wiring diagrams, component selection, and component replacement.
• Adopt 6 sigma/DFSS in the complete tool development phase
• Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to integrate electrical systems into complete automation solutions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing existing systems and proposing upgrades.
• Conduct standard testing and validation of electrical systems to ensure performance and safety. - Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and electrical codes. - Prepare technical documentation, including BOMs, manuals, and test reports.

About you:

• B.S. degree or higher in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design and automation systems.
• Familiarity with industrial sensors, actuators, motor control systems and other related industry standards.
• Experience with CAD tools for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, EPLAN).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated, responsible, with a “can-do” attitude and an open mindset.
• English proficiency both in writing and speaking.
• Good communication and teamwork ability.

Your experience includes:

• Familiarity with machine elements (a must): Such as electrical controls, AC/DC motors, servo motors, inverters, general panel equipment, drives and pneumatics.
• Electrical Circuit Design (a must): Able to read, create electrical schematic and wiring diagrams by using tools like SolidWorks, AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Control System (a must): Understand sensors, actuators, relays, encoder, and motor control systems (VFDs, servos) and basic PID control theory.
• Industrial Communication Protocol (a must): Knowledge of industrial communication protocols like Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, CANopen.
• Troubleshooting and Testing (a must): Proficient in diagnosing electrical issues in automation systems and able to use diagnostic tools (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
• Safety Standards (a must): Aware of electrical safety standards (e.g., SEMI, SOP39, NFPA, IEC) and understand machine safety components (e.g., emergency stops, safety relays, Interlock switch).
• Machine Vision (Preferred): Knowledge of machine vision design and component selection
• Pneumatics System (Preferred): Knowledge of pneumatic components (e.g., solenoid, cylinder, manifold, valve).
• Programing (optional): Basic knowledge of programming PLCs and uController. Understand ladder logic, function block diagram, and programming syntax.
