About our group:

The Global Packaging Engineering team provides innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging and in-process tray/carrier (automated and manual) solutions that involve the STX supply chain and transportation, holistically for STX operation and environment. Our designed mechanical/packaging part contributes to STX product shipment quality and manufacturing from Slider to finished HDD, including the packaging that ships products to customers. Our group works closely with all Seagate HDD factories (Korat, Wuxi), Seagate Media and Substrate factories (Woodlands, JBS), System design center and contract manufacturers, Seagate Consumer Product group and contract manufacturers (in China, Taiwan, Thailand, and USA). 

About the role - you will:

  • Lead the development team and execution of innovative packaging strategies for new product launches and existing product lines
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers, marketing, commercial, production, supplier, quality, and logistics teams along the supply chain to ensure packaging development meets customers' and product requirements, protective performance, and cost targets
  • Oversee testing and validation of packaging to ensure they meet industry standards, global compliance, and regulations
  • Review and approval of drawing, specification, BOM, and testing report of packaging to ensure the final packaging is workable for all customers
  • Developed department dashboards (Smartsheet)
  • Packaging global compliance and sustainability team lead, driving quantitative initiatives, and developing the group tactics in these areas
  • Manage and mentor a team of packaging engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation on both Protective packaging and component packaging areas
  • Packaging development budget planning and control, and developed department budgeting dashboard (Smartsheet)
  • Lead department LEAN culture and activity

About you:

Your experience includes:

  • HDD and System Data Storage manufacturing industry knowledge
  • Working knowledge of standard software tools e.g. O365, Windchill, JIRA, SAP
  • Able to understand engineering drawings and 3D models
  • SolidWorks is a must, and other MCADs can be complementary
  • Six Sigma and Statistics Experience
  • Product development, project management with cross-functional team participation
  • Knowledge and experience in packaging design
  • Familiar with product or materials qualification workflow
  • Knowledge/experience in mechanical testing, e.g., vibration, impact(shock), compression, and fundamental mechanical tests, including familiarity with related ASTM and ISTA test standards, is desired
  • Knowledge of global compliance requirements and trends is an added advantage
  • Project management and Data analytics visualization s/w
