Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) is part of quality organization responsible for developing and delivering best-in-class component quality in supporting “Protect and Improve Seagate’s Total Customer Experience” vision.

 

The primary job responsibilities are managing HSA (Head Stack Assembly) component suppliers to ensure HAMR products launch successful including evaluate supplier’s performance, coordinate work with design engineering team and HSA development and support manufacturing and factory team for quality issue related to material. This will include working effectively and efficiently in a team-oriented environment to keep the operations running smoothly. The other job responsibility of this position will be driving RT4.0 strategy execution and AI/ML Adoption and Implementation at suppliers.

About the role - you will:

  • Work and coordinate with Korat factory and development team for component quality issue related
  • Work out / Communicate to Suppliers on issue / excursion highlighted from Seagate factory, provide 8D support in documenting supplier’s CA via WebSCAR system
  • Report/Roll-up of weekly and monthly and quarterly status report on supplier related and escalated to upper Quality management on potential quality issues and impact via JIRA system and track supplier performance via R.E.D. Metric
  • Incoming supplier performance monitoring and analyze by way of QPM/E2E to support Road to 4.0 project
  • DFD participation and QPM control chart follow up with HSA Component suppliers
  • Leading and coordinating with suppliers to determine RT4.0 strategy and AI/ML Adoption & roadmap and follow up project
  • New supplier location survey and follow up
  • Work with Design Engineering, Process Engineering, Development Engineering and Production on product and process improvements to provide more product margin/stabilization
  • Review and approve first article packages for transferred and new products. Work to ensure SPQP, SIP, FMEA compliance
  • Provide technical / physical support for supplier audits via SeaPIA system to assure compliance and benchmark for best practices and also coordinate with DC team
  • Coordinate aggressive DFM reviews and closures between suppliers, Field SQE, DC SE and DE
  • Supplier Change Request management and control
  • Assess suppliers and roll up Supplier Performance Evaluation (Quality & Technology) via QSC scorecards
  • Develop new commodity initiatives with suppliers to assure no repeated issues, reduce variation of material
  • Support Customer related and qualification activity such as MRR, Sub-Tier audit & visit, Present Supplier Status and Performance to Customer, etc.
  • Support PE, QE, &CQE Failure Analysis on customer returns and provide close loop response

About you:

  • Able to manage the projects, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Well-organized and able to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good engineering verification and evaluation skills
  • Ability to work across multiple teams and collaborate effectively
  • Fluent in English communication both spoken and written

Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree of Engineering in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Computer or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years Electronic/HDD experience + Mechanical/Electrical Background is an advantage
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Must have hard disk drive knowledge and good logical+ analytic skills
  • Must have manufacturing process & reliability test knowledge
  • Computer literacy & programming are advantage for consideration (C#, Python, SQL)
