Global Packaging Engineering develops protective packaging for HDDs, SSDs, components, retail products, and systems. Working with Seagate's global factories, design centers, suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams, we deliver robust, compliant, sustainable, and cost-effective components and outer-pack solutions.

About the role - you will:

Lead the design, development, qualification, and implementation of protective packaging for new and existing products.
Develop component-level packaging, including thermoformed or protective trays and handling media, as well as outer-pack solutions such as cartons, cushions, pallets, and unit loads.
Define packaging requirements, drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and validation plans based on product, customer, manufacturing, logistics, quality, cost, and sustainability needs.
Coordinate packaging analysis and testing, including drop, shock, vibration, compression, stacking, and transportation validation.
Serve as the focal point for packaging compliance, connecting regulatory, customer, and sustainability requirements with engineering documentation and business-system data.
Mine, cleanse, validate, and analyze packaging data from enterprise systems and supplier records; develop reports, dashboards, or automated workflows to improve traceability and decision-making.
Collaborate with global cross-functional teams and suppliers to drive technical resolution, standardization, sustainability, cost reduction, and continuous improvement.
Manage assigned packaging projects, priorities, schedules, and supplier technical activities.

About you:

Strong protective-packaging engineering judgment with structured, data-driven problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret product designs, drawings, 3D models, specifications, bills of materials, and compliance requirements.
Proactive and adaptable, with strong ownership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Able to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Your experience includes:

Experience developing protective packaging for components and finished products, including trays, cartons, cushioning, pallets, or unit loads.
Knowledge of packaging materials, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, supplier development, and change-control processes.
Experience with packaging qualification and mechanical testing, such as drop, shock, vibration, compression, and stacking.
Knowledge of packaging compliance, sustainability, restricted substances, recyclability, labeling, or customer reporting requirements.
Experience in data mining, cleansing, validation, analysis, and visualization using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Smartsheet or similar tools.
Working knowledge of enterprise systems such as Windchill, SAP, JIRA, or similar platforms.
Experience working in cross-functional, global product-development or manufacturing environments.
SolidWorks or comparable MCAD experience, statistics, Six Sigma, or workflow automation experience is preferred.
