About our group:

Head Gimbal Assembly Mechanical Integration (HGA MI) will serve as the liaison between Recording Head Technology Team (RHT), Process & Product Development Integration Team and Factory in Thailand. We are working together for the designed activities and mechanical evaluation to ensure best practices are followed and experiments are properly controlled. This also includes critical data collected and leading Failure Analysis (FA) investigation plan to narrow down the root cause and come up with a solution to improve time and quality of learning.    

About the role - you will:

  • Support design maturity activities driven out of Minnesota, USA development team to Teparuk and Korat factories. This includes product design maturity level 1 (M1) support of relevant Slider process change, HGA (Head Gimbal Assembly) process change, cleaning process and recipe change
  • Provide critical build review and data analysis to ensure that downstream teams are supported and be aware of the key build
  • Define and oversee the mechanical evaluation, ensure best practices are followed and critical data are collected per experiment plan
  • Lead Failure Analysis activities by work with cross-functional teams to find the root cause and come up with corrective action
  • Be responsible to a local meeting with the development team and support functions team for head mechanical issue including to coordinate with technical staff as necessary
  • Work with Minnesota, USA development team to identify new designs which may have process interactions and ensure that those interactions are explored and quantified to allow for improving the time of learning and quality of learning
  • Support HAMR (Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording) ramp to ensure critical data are collected as well as Electrical Test script is fit for use and meet the expectation of key stakeholders

About you:

  • Ability to assimilate multiple and diverse sources of information to understand the problem accurately before moving to proposal and solution
  • Able to communicate and adjust the style to deliver messages to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment
  • Enthusiastic to gather new knowledge and positive attitude
  • Excellent skills in organizing, scheduling and executing engineering projects in the cross-functional environment
  • Ability to work independently and take on projects with minimum supervision
  • Fluent in English communication, both spoken and written
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Materials Science, Physics and Chemical Engineering discipline and/or equivalent experience

Your experience includes:

  • Good knowledge of product mechanical CTQ (Critical To Quality) parameters both Slider, HGA (Head Gimbal Assembly) and TGA (Trace Gimbal Assembly) e.g. Head Over Coat, Pole Tip Topography, Air Bearing and Dimple Location
  • Having a good understanding of the Slider, HGA (Head Gimbal Assembly) process and Data Storage
  • Highly proficient in SQL (Structured Query Language) and Statistical Software e.g. JMP (Jump) and Minitab
  • Understanding of Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) and Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) methodology
  • Understanding of material science principles and their application in the field of data storage technology
  • Familiarity with the physics of laser diodes, particularly as it applies to Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology
  • Familiarity with Failure Analysis metrology equipment e.g. AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope)
