Senior Staff Engineer - Cleaning Process Development

About our group:
As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will be the technical expertise for cleaning processes and product cleanliness in heads mechanical process. You will lead strategy, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve best in class cleanliness and defect performance for heads to enable next-generation product launches.
About the role - you will:
- Initiate and drive improvement projects aligned with the technology roadmap and operational excellence goals.
- Develop and maintain the cleaning process strategy and roadmap in collaboration with IE, Facilities, and Manufacturing.
- Lead the introduction, qualification, and control of new material-handling processes, including advanced tape processing.
- Implement data-driven process improvements and defect-prevention techniques to enhance product robustness.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce cleanliness standards and best practices aligned with long-term technology direction.
- Collaborate with upstream and downstream teams (Slider, HGA, Product), and partner with operations, software, tooling, and maintenance teams to support evaluation builds and new technology deployment.
- Explore and develop advanced cleaning techniques to address product and process challenges, applying statistical tools and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Lead root-cause analysis for cleaning-related issues and provide technical support during manufacturing escalations and new product introductions.
- Maintain and advance expertise in cleaning chemistries, contamination control, and cleaning process technologies to continuously identify improvement opportunities.
About you:
- B.S. or higher in Chemical, Materials Engineering, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in HDD manufacturing, with strong exposure to Slider, HGA and drive processes.
- Proven experience in cleaning process development and cleanliness improvement.
- Familiarity with industrial sensors, actuators, and motor control systems.
- Team player and able to collaborate or lead cross functional teams in projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficient in statistical tools and Six Sigma.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and English proficiency.
