Engineering Intern - Mechanical & Data Analysis (Recording Head Technology)
Samut Prakan, TH
About our group:
The Characterization and Analytic Group (CAG) supports the development of advanced Recording Head Technology at Seagate. Within CAG, the Mechanical Electrical Integration (MechEI) team, based in Teparuk, Thailand, focuses on understanding how mechanical and electrical behavior at the recording head (transducer) level impacts product performance. Our team develops test solutions and data analysis methods that help Recording Head Design teams learn from experiments and improve future designs. We work as part of a global engineering team, collaborating closely with Operation team, Test Developers and Recording Head Designers in Thailand and USA.
About the role - you will:
· Contribute to the development and improvement of software tools used to analyze mechanical test data. · Work with a variety of engineering datasets, including: o Frequency Response Function (FRF) o Physical Failure Analysis (pFA) topography o Fly height and related measurements · Support data quality checking and develop visualizations that help engineers interpret test results more effectively. · Learn to automate data processing workflows for large datasets used in engineering experiments. · Create clear and easy‑to‑understand plots, charts, and visual summaries for engineering users. · Collaborate closely with your mentor and international teammates to understand user needs and incrementally improve tools.
About you:
· Willingness to learn and ask questions · Logical thinking and basic problem-solving skills · Interest in programming, data analysis, or engineering tools · Openness to feedback and teamwork · Comfort communicating and collaborating in a diverse, international environment
Your experience includes:
· Currently studying bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Data Science or a related field · Basic programming experience in Python, C, or similar languages · Familiarity with handling data in tools such as Excel, JMP, SQL, or equivalent · Basic understanding of data visualization (graphs, plots, dashboards, trend analysis) You might also have: · Exposure to mechanical or electromechanical test data (e.g., vibration, frequency response, surface topography) · Experience with scripting, automation, or tool development for engineering applications · Ability to communicate in English for technical discussions and collaboration · Interest in recording head technology, precision mechanics, or advanced hardware system

Location: Teparuk, Thailand
Home to over 4,000 employees, our Teparuk site specializes in producing nano-recording heads—a crucial component for the read/write functionality of hard disk drives. At our Teparuk facility, work is both productive and enjoyable. You and your colleagues can grab breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks at our 24/7 on-site canteen and coffee shop. Stay active by taking a few laps around our running track or participating in volleyball, basketball, table tennis, badminton, or football at our on-site gymnasium and fitness center. We also offer a variety of activities, including music, dance, and aerobic classes. Alternatively, unwind in our lush green areas. Consider joining any of our employee resource groups (ERGs), such as Seagate Women in Leadership Network (SWLN), Seagate PRIDE: Thailand chapter, or Seagate’s parents and caregivers group. These ERGs provide educational and fun activities. Additionally, enjoy on-site festivals, celebrations, and opportunities to give back to the local community.
