Sr Engineering Manager - RAS / Storage Systems

About our group:

This group is developing a new storage software platform designed for cloud storage products and focused on scalability, extensibility and reuse.

About the role - you will:

●    Work with the internal Seagate teams, its customers, and the Network Storage industry to develop a resilient, high performing storage platform. The position requires system development project management experience. Experience with RAS (Reliability Availability Serviceability) aspects of Storage Management is desirable.
●    Lead a local team of software developers and will facilitate effective collaboration with the global team of development professionals. 
●    Act as an effective coach of engineering talent, a creative problem-solver, and an exceptional communicator and collaborator. 
●    Will take complete ownership of the development of RAS of distributed object storage software and deal with related issues.
●    Lead the team and communicate with managers to develop optimal solutions and report progress.
●    Collaborate with other development teams to ensure full integration of all parts of the system.
●    Shares best practices with partners and peer groups.

About you:

●    Seasoned Engineering Manager with experience of Delivering Enterprise class software
●    Actively pursues opportunities for learning and self-development
●    Good communication skills – written and oral
●    Presentation skills to senior leadership teams
●    Quick learner in adapting new technologies
●    Experience in some/all of the following will be desirable:
- Knowledge of System Engineering, OS Internals, IPCs
- Knowledge of Message Bus frameworks (e.g. Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Knowledge of Data Interchange formats (e.g. JSON, XML)
- Knowledge of version control (e.g. git)

Your experience includes:

●    Experience to develop software roadmaps, produce software development schedules and release plans to realize the product goals
●    Experience leading Agile Scrum teams is required. 
●    Experience in the development of Scale Out Storage Systems
●    Experience working with distributed teams over a range of geographies and time zones
●    Experience with industry software development processes and practices.
●    Knowledge of software development life-cycle.
●    Basic understanding of functional groups related to engineering (i.e. development, documentation, DevOps etc.).
●    Actively pursues opportunities for learning and self-development.
