Sr Engineer - Electrical Characterization

About our group:

The group is part of Seagate's VLSI Organization spread globally across multiple sites. Seagate designs world class controller SoCs for their HDDs. The group in Pune participates in the Design, Verification, Physical Design, and Silicon Validation activities of these complex SoCs. This group has some of the best talent from the industry and has contributed to many SoC used within Seagate across various process nodes.

About the role - you will:

Support SoC Silicon Validation activities on HDD and SSD controllers via one or more of the following activities.

  • Characterization of Industry standard serial interfaces (DDR3/4/NAND etc.).
  • Characterization of high speed IO’s.
  • Noise measurements.
  • Power measurement, tuning, correlation support.
  • Work on equipment like high-speed oscilloscopes, power analyzer, AWGs.
  • Work with cross functional team during debug.
  • Develop validation/characterization test plans for IP module/SoC.
  • Execute validation tests and document results.

About you:

  • Good understanding of high-speed design and measurement concept.
  • Self-motivated, strong team player.
  • Strong debug and analytical skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies.

Your experience includes:

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following activities:
    • Silicon Validation of analog IPs or interfaces of SOCs (System on Chips) e.g., High-speed IOs, PLLs, SerDes, DDR3/DDR4.
    • Power measurement, tuning.
    • PVT characterization, shmoo plots.
    • Noise measurement/analysis.
    • Power regulator characterization.
  • Hands-on experience in using lab instrumentation like high-speed oscilloscopes, logic/spectrum analyzers, AWGs.
  • Basic understanding of PCB design flow, silicon level analysis and debugging, user-level knowledge of any scripting languages like Python, Perl, Tcl/Tk would be an advantage.
