Staff Engineer (Slider Process Engineer, Lapping & Pitstop)

About our group:
Our team is developing new slider processes or technology to meet future product roadmap requirements, as well as other Lapping and Pitstop processes development (OSL-One-Step lapping, AKL-Actuation kiss lap, Pitstop plate preparation for all kinds of lapping, Lapping and Pitstop software development, etc.). Our mission is to transform the Lapping & pitstops process, enabling high-efficiency, high-precision, and future-ready solutions that align with next-generation product roadmaps.
About the role - you will:
● Take ownership to develop a new lapping and Pitstop process (a pitstop process that preparation all kinds of plates to support the lapping process that will lap the bars to meet SH and RES target), which delivers best-in-class for writer and reader requirements, and eventually better mechanical and electrical yield
● Develop assembly tooling or machines that are compatible with the new lapping and pitstop process, with a basic concept of mechanical and electrical design
● Learn & study the chemical properties of various lubricant (Lube and Slurry) to simplify the existing lapping and pitstop process
● Work closely with the operation shop floor teams (manufacturing, process, and equipment engineering) to enable the successful execution of new technology into the process
● Be responsible for technology and/or process transfer between sites or inter-departments
About you:
● Able to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
● Able to prioritize multiple tasks, manage conflicting deadlines, and work effectively in a dynamic environment
● Excellent teamwork, leadership, organization, and presentation skills
● Ability to effectively plan, control, and take responsibility for the timeline and status update
● Have prior experience in programming, including developing software and working with various coding languages, in both academic and practical settings
● Fluent in English communication, both spoken and written
Your experience includes:
● Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering/ Computer Science and/or equivalent experience
● Knowledge of Hard Disk Drives or Electronic Manufacturing
● Mechanical Design and Development
● Process development and process improvement
● Problem analysis (6-sigma approach, Kepner-Tregoe, and CAPA8D)
● Proficiency in CAD design or simulation tools and basic automation control systems is an added advantage
