Our Mechanical design Engineering group focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing tooling and equipment for the Head Disk Assembly (HDA) process in hard disk drive manufacturing. We combine deep engineering expertise with advanced design practices to ensure high precision, reliability, and manufacturability in every stage of production. About the role - you will:
1. Tooling & Equipment Design • Lead the design of jigs, fixtures, precision tooling, and automation equipment for manufacturing and assembly. • Develop 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and specifications that comply with engineering standards. • Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, reliability, ergonomics, and safety. 2. Project & Technical Leadership • Take ownership of projects from concept through implementation. • Provide design guidance and technical expertise. • Lead design reviews, evaluate concepts, and approve engineering deliverables. 3. Analysis & Validation • Perform engineering analysis (Finite Element Analysis, tolerance stack-up, stress, thermal, vibration, and motion). • Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation of new tooling/equipment. • Troubleshoot issues with existing designs and implement effective improvements. 4. Process & Manufacturing Support • Collaborate with process engineers, production teams, and suppliers to ensure tooling supports operational needs. • Provide engineering solutions to improve yield, reduce cycle time, and enhance equipment reliability. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in tooling performance and cost efficiency. 5. Innovation & Technology Advancement Seagate Internal • Research new materials, precision mechanisms, and automation technologies to enhance tooling capability. • Contribute to the development of IP and innovative solutions for competitive advantage. • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
About you:
• Advanced proficiency in engineering design tools and simulation such as SolidWorks and ANSYS • Strong knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) • Deep knowledge of precision machining, automation, and assembly processes. • Strong analytical skills with hands-on prototyping and testing experience. • Leadership ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders. • Good English communication
Your experience includes:
● Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. ● Minimum 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, with at least 3 years in tooling, automation, or equipment design.

Our Korat facility is our largest manufacturing site worldwide, with more than 10,000 employees.
