About our group:

Our HDA Process Development team, part of the Equipment Development Engineering department, has been leading the development of automated Hard Drive Assembly (HDA) processes for several years. We work closely with design engineers from the early design phase through to volume production, ensuring the successful setup and launch of best-in-class assembly processes to support Seagate’s new product introductions.

About the role - you will:

•    Work closely with the US Design Center & EDE (Equipment Development Engineering) during early product development to establish product CTQs
•    Provide manufacturing requirements to the US Design Center for new products
•    Estimate manufacturing cost and develop a plan for product introduction into the factory, including any implementation impact due to new processes or technologies
•    Define, coordinate, perform and document process/equipment qualifications prior to product transfer: Gage R&R, Process Capability, Product Capability
•    Define process document, Process Management Plan (PMP), Process instructions
•    Conduct process/product evaluations prior to PSAD for process/product optimization
•    Qualify all component packaging, including HSA shipping comb
•    Initiate process and product changes prior to PSA
•    Develop a statistical process monitoring plan for factory control 
•    Support factories launch up to PSA (Product Ship Approval)

About you:

•    Able to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
•    Strong project management and planning skills, comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment
•    Willingness to participate in conference calls during non-standard work hours
•    Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new knowledge and skills
•    Skilled in driving projects forward and persuading key stakeholders
•    Optimistic and creative thinker
•    Willing and able to travel both internationally and domestically
•    Good command of English

Your experience includes:

•    Bachelor’s or higher degree in the Engineering field or relevant experience (Mechanical Engineer is preferable)
•    Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
•    Proficiency in Six Sigma methodologies and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP)
•    Experience in high-volume automation assembly process environments
•    Hands-on experience in AI/ML projects, particularly in manufacturing applications (e.g., predictive maintenance, process optimization)
•    SolidWorks preferred; other CAD/CAE tools a plus
•    Experience in cleanroom particle control or contamination reduction is preferred
