About our group:

Our Equipment Development Engineering department has been at the forefront of developing HDA (Hard Drive Assembly) automation assembly machines for several years. We innovate and create best-in-class equipment and manufacturing technology to support Seagate’s component and product roadmaps. Our efforts focus on improving overall equipment efficiency, enhancing capital utilization and longevity, and ensuring the health and safety of our employees.

About the role - you will:

  • Support development, testing, and maintenance of automated manufacturing equipment for HDD assembly
  • Build expertise in equipment software, controls, and electrical systems through hands-on experience and guidance
  • Work on routine engineering assignments, following established standards and procedures
  • Contribute to projects, assist in troubleshooting, implement changes, and document engineering work
  • Develop, test, and implement PC-based systems, PLCs, and HMIs for high-throughput automated machinery
  • Enhance existing equipment software and provide ongoing improvements
  • Support electrical design and troubleshooting for machine development
  • Document software and electrical changes accurately
  • Create and maintain software documentation, schematics, diagrams, and manuals
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware issues on the production floor
  • Improve production efficiency and develop new automation machines
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers on controls hardware design
  • Interpret electrical schematics and pneumatic diagrams
  • Use flowcharts to communicate software design concepts
  • Estimate project costs and schedules

About you:

Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in engineering and/or equivalent disciplines
  • Academic or internship exposure to one or more of the following areas:
  • Automation or manufacturing equipment
  • PC-based software programming (C#, C++, Python)
  • Basic electrical or control systems
  • Sensors, actuators, motion systems, or industrial equipment
  • Experience with software development tools and structured problem solving through coursework or projects is a plus.
  • No prior professional engineering experience is required, but relevant internships, co-op programs, or final-year projects are advantageous.

Our Korat facility is our largest manufacturing site worldwide, with more than 10,000 employees. Here, our team produces cloud-based storage equipment, from individual storage components to finished drives.
