About the role - you will:

 

The Quality Engineer serves as the primary interface between Seagate Engineering/Factory operations and strategic customers (Cloud) for all quality-related matters. This role is responsible for monitoring fleet and integration performance, analyzing failure trends, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration experience, and a customer-focused mindset. 

  • Collaborate closely with customer-facing teams to support product rollouts and technology upgrades.
  • Work hands-on with the latest storage technologies, gaining exposure to cutting-edge solutions.
  • Interface with a wide array of internal teams—including Engineering, Product Management, and Technical Support—to align on strategy and execution.

Customer & Factory Engagement 

  • Act as the main conduit between Seagate Engineering/Factory and customer teams for quality-related requirements.
  • Lead monthly factory/customer quality review meetings, ensuring alignment on metrics, issues, and improvement plans.
  • Own and deliver customer quality reports, including Total Customer Experience (TCE) and scorecard metrics. 

Monitoring & Analysis 

  • Manage fleet and integration monitoring systems to ensure early detection of quality issues.
  • Perform failure and trend analysis to identify systemic problems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track and report on quality KPIs, including DPPM, RMA rates, and FA outcomes. 

Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement 

  • Lead resolution efforts for high DPPM issues, coordinating cross-functional teams to address root causes.
  • Develop and manage 8D corrective action plans, ensuring timely implementation and effectiveness.
  • Report on fix effectiveness and projected improvements to customers, maintaining transparency and accountability. 

About you:

  • Extensive experience in quality engineering, preferably in a customer-facing or manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong understanding of failure analysis, corrective action methodologies (e.g., 8D), and quality metrics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience managing customer relationships.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting platforms. 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience working with hyperscale customers (e.g., Cloud).
  • Familiarity with factory operations and integration processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.

Longmont, CO (preferred); Bloomington, MN; Hybrid on-site cadence (Tuesday - Thursday)

The estimated base salary range for this position is $94,000 - $136,000. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
