We are seeking an experienced Records and Information Management (RIM) Specialist to join our Intellectual Property (IP) and Data Governance team, which is part of Seagate’s Legal and Government Relations Department. Members of the Legal and Government Relations Department are diverse, dynamic, innovative, and engaged. Our professionals work collaboratively as valued business partners to support Seagate’s strategy and objectives.

 

As a valued member of the IP and Data Governance team, the RIM Specialist will work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal department personnel to support and implement Seagate’s records and information management functions. The position will report to Seagate’s Assistant General Counsel, IP and Data Governance, and focus on managing the lifecycle of business records at Seagate in accordance with the company’s records retention policy.

About the role - you will:

 

  • Manage records and information management program activities and functions, including database management, data insights, and analysis
  • Review, manage and update (with support from legal counsel and other stakeholders) Seagate’s records retention policy
  • Update and maintain the inventory system for company records to identify, store, retrieve, and dispose of records according to policy
  • Generate and maintain reports regarding Seagate’s records and information management processes and procedures
  • Earn the trust and cooperation of internal clients and provide training on records and information management topics
  • Recruit and support records coordinators - who are geographically distributed in the U.S., EMEA and Asia - to comply with Seagate’s records retention policy
  • Direct the movement of records in connection with employee terminations, office changes, and relocations
  • Instruct and engage storage vendors to ensure they meet agreed-upon service levels, cost controls, and contractual obligations
  • Provide support for attorneys and other Department personnel on special projects, such as acquisitions, divestitures, and records reviews
  • Research trends and industry best practices for records and information management and strategically implement improvements in Seagate’s processes
  • Develop and execute compliance audits consistent with Seagate’s policies 
  • As occasionally needed, travel to records locations to ensure policy compliance

About you:

 

  • Attention to detail, and ability to execute projects to completion
  • Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels within and outside Seagate, and to collaborate with peers across multiple sites to produce results
  • Demonstrated ability to think innovatively and creatively

Your experience includes:

 

  • Deep understanding of established principles of records management and working knowledge of records and information management laws and processes
  • Proficiency with MS Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

 

You might also have:

 

  • Credentials as a Certified Records Manager, Records Analyst and/or Information Governance Professional will be a plus

 

Salary: The estimated base salary range for this position is $102,600.00 - $149,600.00. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Location:

 

Hybrid work arrangement based out of offices in Longmont, CO or Bloomington, MN.  Hybrid work expectations are a minimum of two days per week in the office. We will only consider candidates desiring a fully remote work arrangement in extraordinary circumstances.
