About our group:

Seagate has an exciting opportunity for a 2026 Summer Internship in the Firmware Development Engineering team at our research and design center in Longmont, CO. Our group is a part of a multi-site team that develop firmware solutions for Enterprise and Cloud HDD products.

About the role - you will:

  • Be part of a team who conceives, designs, develops, and tests firmware solutions for advanced HDD Storage devices
  • Be responsible for developing new test scripts and/or enhancing existing test scripts to analyze drive performance under various customer workloads.
  • Work closely with HDD firmware engineers to develop tools that will be instrumental in the code development life-cycle. 

About you:

  • Excellent analytical skills  
  • The ability to solve complex and dynamic problems  
  • Knowledge about structured programming  
  • A desire to learn 

Your experience includes:

  • An excellent understanding of embedded software engineering, computer architecture, memory technologies, data structure and algorithms  
  • Proficiency in a scripting language (Python) 
  • Proficiency in C or C++ programming 
  • Projects involving hardware & firmware interaction 
  • Python scripting
  • Current enrollment in Bachelors or Masters degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with the intent to return to school in Fall 2026 

 

You might also have:  

  • Knowledge of data storage systems (SATA/SAS/NVMe)  
  • Agile knowledge and experience  
  • Experience using code development tools (emulators, debuggers & trace, version control systems, compilers, linkers, and analyzers)  
  • Software performance analysis and optimization skills

The estimated base wage range for this position is $24 - $35/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan.  Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave.  The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
