Data Recovery Lab Engineer

About our group:

Most Seagate storage media now includes Rescue Data Recovery Service. Our team of experts is responsible for recovering the data from our customers drives, after accidental data deletion or failure of the drive. We do this in our three high tech labs in Amsterdam, Oklahoma City and Hangzhou. 

With almost 20 years of experience and the use of our in house developed hard- and software tools, we are able to successfully recover +80% the cases. 

About the role - you will:

•    As a Junior Data Recovery Lab Technician, you will be working on Seagate and Lacie products
•    Performing data recovery on single hard disk drives and 2 disk RAIDs
•    Fixing simple internal drive issues, transplanting r/w heads from 1-2 platter disks
•    Fixing simple logical issues with the partition table/boot sector and perform logical data recovery after reformat or data deletion
•    Copy the recovered data onto the return media in order to return the data to the customer
•    Pre-evaluated the incoming cases and assign these to the correct lab technician based on the level of difficulty
•    Check in recovery cases into the established Case Management System and communicate with the system on case updates, assignments and milestones
•    Communicate and follow up with the contact center advocates via email to help solving issues with or requesting information from the customer
•    Assist other lab technicians and the team leadership with various tasks to keep the lab running
•    Maintain consistent communication, scheduling and documentation utilizing Microsoft Office and Google Apps

•    Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
•    Ability to exercise flexibility, initiative, good judgment and discretion
•    Ability to work accurately, with interruptions to meet specific deadlines

Your experience includes:

•    Strong written and verbal communication in English, interpersonal and customer service skills
•    Excellent typing, proofreading and editing skills
•    Technical degree or certificate
•    1 year of experience working within the Computer Repair industry
•    Experience with Windows, Mac OS and Linux
•    Basic understanding of Filesystems: FAT, NTFS, HFS+
•    Basic understanding of RAID systems, RAID 0,1,mirror
