About our group:

The SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting Group holds key responsibilities for financial filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) and providing technical support to members of the Finance and Accounting team.

About the role - you will:

The Sr. Manager of SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting and SOX will be responsible for leading the SEC reporting function, managing the technical accounting research related to new and proposed accounting standards and leading SOX PMO team. This position serves a critical finance role and will interface with personnel at various levels of the Company, as well as the internal and external auditors. The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to develop strong working relationships with cross-functional partners and various levels of senior leadership. 

 

  • Manage the preparation of SEC filings, including Form 10-Qs, Form 10-K, and Form 8-Ks 
  • Support and review the annual proxy and other SEC filings to ensure the accuracy of applicable financial information 
  • Assist the Investor Relations team with various investor deliverables such as earnings releases, investor Q&A and other presentations 
  • Support the business needs by performing research of certain technical accounting matters, including carrying out research and documentation for the adoption of new standards, general corporate accounting matters, as well as a variety of complex and non-standard transactions such as derivatives, debt offerings, manufacturing accounting, mergers and acquisitions, etc. 
  • Partner with critical stakeholders to drive SOX program management functions, including the planning and scoping for testing, drafting and issuing of relevant SOX policies and guidance. 
  • Assist with the development of financial policies in response to operational changes, internal control requirements, or technical accounting requirements 
  • Support FP&A for the forecasting process 
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members 
  • Lead or participate in special projects as needed

Your experience includes:

  • Comprehensive and strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting principles and regulations 
  • Solid accounting experience, which includes experience in auditing at public accounting firm(s), or equivalent experience at a major technology company 
  • Leading teams 
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills 
  • Knowledgeable about main areas of SOX compliance – including risk assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation of deficiencies 
  • Project management 
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience (accounting is preferred)

  • A CPA 
  • Big 4 experience preferred 
  • Focus on technology clients

Location: Fremont, CA; Hybrid - Generally, role will need to report into office on Monday and Wednesday

The estimated base salary range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area is: $151,000 - $220,000. Actual salary range is based on the regional labor market of the role in the geography in which the position is located based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
