The Facilities team ensures safe, compliant, and continuous operations of Seagate’s facilities by maintaining critical building systems, supporting infrastructure reliability, and responding to site service needs.

 

This role helps ensure the stability, reliability, and predictability of facilities infrastructure systems while supporting a safe workplace and minimizing environmental impact across the site.

About the role - you will:

The Facilities Technician is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting facility building equipment, infrastructure, and environmental systems. This role performs preventive and corrective maintenance, conducts daily inspections and rounds, supports wastewater treatment and hazardous waste management activities, responds to customer service requests, and coordinates with vendors and contractors to help maintain a safe and reliable workplace.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC-related, hydro-mechanical, pump, fan, motor, and utility systems.
  • Monitor system performance, complete daily building rounds, record operating parameters for critical equipment, and maintain accurate shift pass-down logs and maintenance documentation.
  • Support wastewater treatment and discharge operations, including chemical replenishment and reorder, pH meter calibration, filter press cleaning, sludge box preparation, chemical container rinsing, and daily discharge recordkeeping.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair assigned facility equipment and systems, including minor repairs such as fan, pump, motor, belt, and filter replacement; bearing lubrication; power cycling; alarm clearing; and basic diagnostics.
  • Respond to customer service requests and Facilities Service Requests related to temperature concerns, plumbing issues, roof leaks, indoor air quality, wall patching and painting, hardware repair, whiteboard and keyboard installation, and equipment relocations.
  • Coordinate, host, and interface with onsite vendors, service providers, and contractors performing facilities or EHS-related work.
  • Assist with physical moves of equipment and support site projects, shutdown work, and off-schedule maintenance activities as needed.
  • Track inventory of EHS lab supplies, PPE, hazardous materials, and hazardous waste; restock materials as needed.
  • Conduct daily visual inspections of hazardous waste satellite accumulation areas and ensure proper labeling, container management, movement of full containers, and disposal coordination through approved service providers.
  • Serve as a member of the site emergency response team and support inspections of first aid kits, fire extinguishers, safety showers, and eyewash stations.
  • Identify and address safety and environmental concerns while maintaining compliance with EH&S, OSHA, and company policies.
  • Provide timely and detailed reports to management when equipment, facility, or EHS issues arise.
  • Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of cleanrooms, DI water, process cooling water, process hot water, process vacuum, contamination control vacuum, house vacuum, clean dry air, fume scrubbers, chilled water, tertiary water loops, cooling towers, and basic HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with hydro-mechanical systems, pumps, pump assembly, maintenance principles, and maintenance scheduling.
  • Ability to use Facilities Management System (FMS), ALC WebCTRL building automation, Computerized Work Order systems, CMMS, MS Office Suite, Gmail, and related computer tools.
  • Basic understanding of environmental and safety regulations, standards, industry practices, EH&S requirements, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues using a systematic approach and perform basic diagnostics such as clearing alarms, resetting equipment, and identifying potential causes of events.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and collaboratively across multifunctional teams.
  • Adaptable, eager to learn, team-oriented, and able to listen well to understand different perspectives.

About you:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to pass a DMV review.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and scissor lift, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be available to participate in an on-call rotation schedule with compensation.
  • Must be willing to provide vacation and sick coverage and support pre-scheduled projects during holidays or site operations shutdowns.
  • Regular working hours are on-site Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; hours and days may change based on building needs.

Your experience includes:

  • Three or more years of experience in facilities, manufacturing, security management, maintenance, or a related environment preferred.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, inspections, equipment troubleshooting, and service request support.
  • Experience working with vendors, contractors, service providers, and cross-functional site teams preferred.

The estimated base wage range for this position is $31.44 - $40.87/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
