Development Engineer II - Equipment Engineering Department

About our group:

We are responsible for all aspects of Sputter deposition coating systems, technology integration, equipment design and modifications, operations data gathering and analysis, failure mode analysis and corrective actions, performance validation, media development process support requests.

About the role - you will:

As a member of Seagate RMO Equipment Engineering the Development Engineer II provides comprehensive solutions to technical problems through the application of engineering analysis, principles, theories, and concepts. Considered becoming an expert in your field, you will develop skills to provide effective and complete solutions to complex problems involving multiple factors.

In order to accomplish assignments, this position requires frequent intra-organizational contact – good communication skills are necessary. Development Engineers are assigned work pertaining to the development and modification of equipment that affects immediate operations.

There are no personnel management responsibilities in this position, but Development Engineers may be given engineering project assignments in cross functional teams.

Within the defined scope of assigned projects, the Development Engineer will provide the technical and engineering expertise required ensuring successful completion of complex equipment related projects.

You may be assigned to participate in the engineering responsibility for any aspects of the specification, design, and implementation of solutions for some or all phases of new manufacturing equipment development from conception through end-of-life.

As it pertains to their assignments, Development Engineers assist Project management in defining technical project milestones, measurement systems, and engineering resource requirements.

Your experience includes:

• Must have a Safety-first approach to all aspects of the position
• Must have a working knowledge of equipment design and operational concepts
• Must have the ability to communicate engineering and technical concepts to internal and external partners
• Must have the ability to communicate assignment status to management
• Two, (2), years or more of equipment engineering experience desired
• Manufacturing Engineering experience is desirable
• Project management skills are beneficial
• Experience supporting vacuum equipment in media manufacturing or similar industry
• Manufacturing Engineering role experience supporting a facility is a positive attribute
• Mechatronics engineering design experience

Education:

• B.S. in Mechatronics or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education

Location:

The estimated base salary range for this position is $84,600 - $121,000. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
