Successful candidates will join a worldwide Software Engineering team architecting, developing, validating, and deploying embedded firmware for Seagate storage products.   • Develop embedded firmware in C for storage devices and related product platforms
  • Validate new and existing hardware features and write firmware drivers to control and interface with them
  • Work with global team on resolving problems detected internally or externally
  • Exercise your independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Contribute to firmware features that improve product functionality, reliability, performance, and manufacturability
  • Develop, integrate, debug, and maintain firmware features across product development phases
  • Optimize and improve existing firmware stacks, libraries, and platform components

About you:

The successful candidate will be part of the Seagate Software Engineering team in Singapore. This role will focus on embedded firmware development, validation, debugging, and integration for storage products. The candidate should demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining architecture and firmware solutions. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments.

Your experience includes:

  • Fluent programming capabilities in one or more languages such as C, Python, etc.
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and practical problem-solving techniques
  • Demonstrate problem solving capabilities and able to readily apply critical thinking.
  • Demonstrate communication skills and ability to articulate technical issues.
  • Understanding of micro-controller and its interaction with firmware.
  • Understanding of embedded systems concepts, firmware architecture, hardware-software interaction, and low-level debugging
  • Strong interest in firmware development, product validation, performance optimization, and solving complex engineering problems
  • Working Experience using firmware and hardware development tools (emulators, trace, version control, oscilloscopes, compilers, linkers, and analyzers).
  • Self-motivated and be able to comprehend and apply new knowledge quickly and effectively on the job.
  • Interest in working with storage systems, embedded platforms, firmware development processes, and industry standards
  • Familiarity with using AI-assisted coding tools to improve development productivity, code understanding, debugging, test creation, and documentation
