Wafer Process Control Intern - Wet Processes Summer 2025

About our group:
This Intern will work with our team of Factory Controls Engineers, and Wafer Process Engineers in our Bloomington, MN facility. This internship will focus on enabling new methods of automated process controls on the wafer manufacturing equipment used to build the latest generation of recording heads that go into Seagate’s most advanced Hard Disc Drives (HDD) The Wet Process Engineering team is responsible for controlling and optimizing Chemical Mechanical Polish (CMP), Electroplating and Wet Chemical Etch operations used to fabricate Magnetic Recording Heads. We currently utilize both traditional and novel process control methods and systems, and are actively working to expand our usage of Advanced Process Control (APC) which enables algorithmic and automatic process control adjustments. We also develop and manage automated systems to control and disposition parts and to monitor and control process health.
About the role - you will:
· Learn Advanced Process Control (APC) principles and methods used to generate real-time automated process corrections · Work with factory controls engineers and wet process engineers to create a new APC controller utilizing feedforward and feedback algorithms (XML, Java) · Work with factory controls engineers and wet process engineers to refactor and upgrade factory automation code (C#, R scripting) · Additional opportunities include: · Process Optimization · Statistical Data Analysis · Production Machinery Installation and/or Debugging · Process Documentation and Training
About you:
· Have experience in object-oriented programming (Java), XML, C#, and/or R scripting You may also have: · Experience in factory control systems used to automatically control processes · Experience in semiconductor/wafer wet processes used to deposit or remove materials from a substrate
Your experience includes:
BS student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or, working toward a BS in any science or engineering field with experience/skills in programming, and must be enrolled in Fall 2025 classes.

The estimated base wage range for this position is $22 - $29/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
