You will have the exciting opportunity to work on cutting edge technologies and help push the areal density of Seagate recording heads beyond that of any other competitor in the world. This is a Development Engineer position in our wafer process development team. Our team's mission is to develop new processes for state-of-the-art recording head technology. Recording head process technology encompasses all disciplines employed in semiconductor wafer processes technology, performed in a clean room environment.

About the role - you will:

 

  • Lead the development of next generation‑ HAMR process modules (for example, Write Pole and heat sink) from design concept through manufacturing qualification.
  • Own assigned HAMR modules, including responsibility for overall module health, process capability improvement, process gap closure, and in-depth‑ root cause analysis of process failures.
  • Drive module development in partnership with design teams and cross functiona‑l R&D and product wafer teams, including lithography, deposition, etch, CMP, wet processing, and metrology, to successfully integrate complex process flows.
  • Plan, manage, and execute experiments and development projects, including rigorous wafer tracking, to deliver results on designated schedules.
  • Organize and lead technology Transfer Readiness Reviews (TRRs) with wafer production engineering team (PE).
  • Prepare and present technical results and status updates to a wide range of technical and management audiences.

  • Committed to maintaining thorough technical documentation and capable of clearly presenting and discussing results in engineering and management forums
  • Proactive in identifying issues and improvement opportunities, and effective at coordinating actions with stakeholders through clear and open communication.

Your experience includes:

 

  • Multiple years of hands-on‑ experience in semiconductor or wafer fabrication across one or more process technologies.
  • Demonstrated success in developing complex, manufacturable process solutions that meet product performance requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of design of experiments (DOE) and statistical process control (SPC) methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a cleanroom environment and provide occasional off-shift‑ support as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field such as Physics Chemistry, Material Science, etc. and 12+ years of experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field such as Physics Chemistry, Material Science, etc. and 8+ years of experience, or PhD and 5+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience.

 

Salary: The estimated base salary range for this position is: $130,400.00 - $190,000.00. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
