About our group:

 

We are responsible for the development and deployment of Wafer Processing equipment for manufacturing on our Photo-lithography, Electro-plating, CMP and Metrology equipment. Our department is in charge of the equipment performance to maximize uptime, throughput and yield as well as minimizing costs, rework and scrap.  These types of improvements come from interacting with the operators and technicians that use the equipment and performing analysis on a variety of different types of tool data retrieved from equipment monitoring devices.

About the role - you will:

 

  • Be responsible for development and deployment of Wafer Processing equipment for manufacturing, with a focus on integrating AI technologies to enhance performance
  • Passion for AI, robotics, and solving complex problems
  • Develop AI analytical tools to evaluate equipment performance and reliability to facilitate decision making
  • Analyzing historical data on tool parameters and maintenance records and integrating AI for predictive maintenance
  • Establish AI-driven programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process.  
  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations, leveraging AI tools.
  • Explore opportunities of using AI optimization to ensure the effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel in producing quality products at minimum costs.
  • Potential for collaborate on prototyping intelligent robotic systems
  • Potential for part time position staring in January 2026, full time internship over summer

Your experience includes:

 

  • Proficient in computer programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, with a focus on AI and machine learning applications.
  • Hands-on experience with real robots
  • Prior research or project work in autonomous navigation or reinforcement learning
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s (3rd year) or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, electrical, mechanical engineering or related fields

The estimated base wage range for this position is $22-$36/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. 

Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan.  Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave.  The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company. #internship
