About our group:

We seek an experienced planning engineer to manage wafer programs throughout their entire lifecycle, from launch through end-of-life, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with our business goals. The primary focus will be on maintaining consistent factory output and minimizing cycle times by reducing variability across our operations. This position reports to the Director of Wafer Manufacturing Operations and is based at our facility in Bloomington, MN. Most routine tasks will be self-directed, while new projects or assignments will follow given guidance. The work involves both tactical and strategic responsibilities, and you will need to provide regular written and verbal updates to management regarding project and task progress.

About the role - you will:

In this role, you will work with engineers, managers, and production control staff from Bloomington and Springtown (UK). You will handle issues of moderate to large scope that require analyzing various factors.

 

  • Enhance and update factory linearity methods.
  • Act as main contact for Program Owners to align on deliverables.
  • Implement automation for operations, buffers, scheduling, and WIP management.
  • Track yield metrics and report findings.
  • Establish durable, user-friendly processes for ongoing and future use.
  • Support Engineer teams with cross-site product transfers, trials, and vendor shipments.
  • External shipments follow contract terms; internal transfers follow company policies.
  • Coordinate shipments with RD engineers, ensuring clear communication and smooth delivery.
  • Collaborate weekly with RD config team on wafer allocation.
  • Manage qual inventory and substrate purchases; prevent wafer shortages.
  • Analyze and visualize data with charts and graphs.
  • Lead continuous improvement in wafer FAB using Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Business Excellence
  • Provide leadership and training support for new planning engineers.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficiency in computer programming and data analytics
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications
  • Capacity to work effectively in a cleanroom environment
  • Willingness to work off-shift hours as necessary

Your experience includes:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial Engineering preferred) with 1-3 years of experience.

 

 

The estimated base salary range for this position is $63,835.20 - $91,291.20. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
